The Ortsverband Lichtenberg traces its roots to the former GST Amateurfunk Clubstation Y51ZO at the Engineering School for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering in Berlin-Ostkreuz. After the dissolution of the Radiosportverband der DDR (RSV) in 1991, many members joined the DARC. The club has since evolved, moving to its current location at the Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft (HTW) Berlin in Oberschöneweide, where it operates the club station DF0LI.
