About Nantucket Amateur Radio Association
NARA began as a social group that brought together amateur radio operators with diverse interests, from occasional operators to dedicated emergency service members. In May 2015, following a meeting initiated by the Nantucket Chief of Police, the club was officially formed to enhance the relationship between local hams and the Nantucket Emergency Management team.
NARA focuses on maintaining and operating a new repeater licensed for the island, fostering a collaborative environment for local hams to share knowledge and experiences. The club is not only a social gathering point but also a critical resource for emergency communications on Nantucket Island.
Get Involved with NARA
If you're an amateur radio enthusiast on Nantucket or visiting the island, consider joining the Nantucket Amateur Radio Association. With a strong focus on community service and emergency preparedness, NARA welcomes new members who wish to engage in amateur radio activities and contribute to local emergency response efforts.
For more information, contact Barry G. Rector at w1tuk@yahoo.com or attend one of their upcoming quarterly meetings at 4 Fairgrounds Road.
