For nearly five decades, the Milford Amateur Radio Club (W8MRC) has stood as a beacon of community engagement, technical excellence, and public service in Milford, Ohio, and beyond. Established in 1975, this 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is driven by a passion for advancing radio communications and fostering a spirit of experimentation and education.


A Purpose Rooted in Service

The club’s mission encapsulates the heart of amateur radio:

  • Educating Members: Enhancing technical proficiency in radio communication.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Training licensed radio amateurs for disaster and emergency response.
  • Community Engagement: Hosting licensing sessions and promoting ethical practices in amateur radio.
  • Scientific Advancement: Encouraging experimentation and innovation in electronics and radio communications.

Activities and Contributions

The Milford Amateur Radio Club is a hub of diverse activities:

  • Cincinnati Hamfest™: A signature annual event drawing radio enthusiasts from across the Greater Cincinnati area.
  • Regular Meetings: Held on the third Thursday of each month at the Miami Township Civic Center.
  • Sunday VHF Net: Operating at 7:30 PM on VHF 147.345+ (CTCSS 123.0).
  • Repeaters: Supporting both VHF and UHF frequencies, including Wires-X digital modes for wide-area communication.

With a membership of 174 radio enthusiasts, including 169 licensed operators, the club thrives under the leadership of:
