Established in 1949, the Mid Lanark Amateur Radio Society (MLARS) has been a cornerstone of amateur radio in Lanarkshire, Scotland, for over seven decades. Meeting Details

The club meets weekly at the Newarthill Community Education Centre in Motherwell. These sessions are perfect for networking, hands-on activities, and exploring the exciting world of amateur radio.

What MLARS Offers

The society is dedicated to helping people in Lanarkshire (and beyond) discover and enjoy amateur radio. Here's what MLARS provides:

  1. Training and Licensing:

    • MLARS regularly runs Foundation License Courses, with the next training starting on October 15th, 2021. These courses are designed to help newcomers obtain their first amateur radio license and join the global radio community.
  2. Regular Nets:

    • Stay connected with fellow members through three active weekly nets:
      • Wednesday DMR Nights at 20:00 on TG23550
      • Friday Zello Nights at 20:00 (MLARS Club Channel)
      • Sunday 10-Meter HF Nights on 28.475 MHz SSB at 21:00
  3. Hands-On Learning:

    • From operating club equipment to participating in contests, members have ample opportunities to sharpen their skills and gain real-world experience.
  4. Supportive Community:

    • MLARS is dedicated to promoting, supporting, and sharing amateur radio. Newcomers can rely on the club's friendly and experienced members for guidance and advice.
