MANCHE, France — In the scenic department of Manche (50), the local amateur radio community is actively fostering connections and celebrating its unique geography through a specialized "Diplôme du 50" (Diploma of the 50). While the departmental presidency of the Réseau des Émetteurs Français (REF) remains vacant, the spirit of amateur radio thrives, with a dedicated QSL Manager and a focus on local engagement.
The official online hub for the REF 50 is https://ref50.jimdofree.com/. For all QSL management needs, M. Denis Villemin (F5RJM) serves as the dedicated contact.
The "Diplôme du 50": A Challenge for Enthusiasts
The "Diplôme du 50" offers a unique challenge for radio amateurs looking to connect with stations within the Manche department. The regulations for obtaining this certificate are straightforward:
-
Two Categories: The diploma is offered in both HF (High Frequency) and VHF/UHF (Très Haute Fréquence - THF).
-
HF Requirements:
- For metropolitan French stations: 5 confirmed QSOs (contacts) with different stations in department 50.
- For overseas French territories (DOM/TOM) stations: 3 confirmed QSOs with different stations in department 50.
-
THF Requirements:
- For all stations: 3 confirmed QSOs with different stations in department 50.
To claim the diploma, participants must submit a certified list of their QSOs (a copy of their logbook); physical QSL card submissions are not required. A participation fee of 10 euros covers the costs of printing, lamination, and postage. It's important to note that International Reply Coupons (IRCs) are not accepted.
All diploma applications and fees should be addressed to the diploma manager, F5NGA, M. François Barbier, at LA MARERIE, 50500 SAINT ANDRE DE BOHON.
This initiative by REF 50 not only encourages activity on the airwaves but also promotes connections within and beyond the Manche department, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of amateur radio.
