Join the Luce Amateur Radio Services, Inc. (LARS) for an exciting weekend of ham radio activities at the 2024 Yooper Hamfest! This annual event is a must-attend for ham radio enthusiasts, featuring a cookout, vendors, and license testing.

Schedule:

June 7, 2024 (Friday):

  • 6:00 PM: Cookout at the fairgrounds. Enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, chips, and pop provided by LARS. This event is free and open to the public.
  • Overnight Camping: Available at the fairgrounds with a donation to the Luce-West Mackinac County Fairgrounds.

June 8, 2024 (Saturday):

  • 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM: 2024 LARS Hamfest. Meet vendors, including Tower Electronics from Green Bay, WI, who will be selling a variety of ham radio equipment.

  • Food and Refreshments: Provided by the Luce-West Mackinac County Fair Board at their cook shack, conveniently located next to the hamfest building.

  • DXCC Card Checking: Duane, KA8O, a DXCC (and WAS) card checker, will be in attendance to assist with your QSL card needs.

  • 2:00 PM: License Testing Session for Technician, General, and Extra Class licenses at the Luce County Airport. The exam fee is $15.00. Pre-registration is recommended, but walk-ins are welcome. For more information, visit ARRL's guide on what to bring to an exam session.

  • 147.39 MHz (positive offset, PL 114.8 Hz) – Between Newberry and Engadine
  • 444.0375 MHz (positive offset) D-Star – Between Newberry and Engadine

The 146.61 MHz repeater is also connected to EchoLink via KC8QZG-R, node number 727165.
