Hungary: Jászsági Rádiósok Egyesülete – HA7KLF Co-Hosts Popular "BUÉK Activity"

JÁSZBERÉNY, Hungary — The Jászsági Rádiósok Egyesülete (Radio Amateurs' Association of Jászság), operating under the callsign HA7KLF from Rákóczi u. 37, Jászberény, is a key organizer of the popular and festive "BUÉK Activity" for amateur radio enthusiasts. Co-organized with the MOM Rádióklub, this annual event aims to foster camaraderie and provide a low-pressure environment for both novice and experienced operators.

"BUÉK Activity": A Fun Start to the New Year

The "BUÉK Activity" (derived from the Hungarian "Boldog Új Évet Kívánok" - Happy New Year) is designed to be a lighthearted and enjoyable operating event. It brings together multiple "Organizer Stations" across Hungary to offer various contact opportunities for domestic and nearby foreign stations.

The main goals of the activity are:

  • To provide a chance for new or less experienced amateurs to engage in casual, fun, and stress-free communication.
  • To strengthen amateur radio friendships.

Participation and Rules

Participants: All licensed amateur radio operators and clubs meeting the activity's conditions are welcome.

Organizer Stations (in callsign order, with points awarded):

  • HA1KHJ (Győr) - 2 points
  • HA2TAT (Gerecse) - 1 point
  • HG3A (Pécs) - 2 points
  • HA4KYB (Székesfehérvár) - 1 point
  • HA5KFV (Budapest) - 2 points
  • HA5KDQ (Budapest) - 1 point
  • HA8AR (Békéscsaba) - 2 points
  • HA5KFZ (Gödöllő) - 1 point
  • HA7KLF (Piszkés-tető) - 2 points
  • HA7NS (Jászberény) - 1 point
  • HA1KSS (Sopron) - 2 points

Rules:

  • Organizer stations will call "CQ BUÉK AKTIVITÁS" on pre-announced (but not publicly shared beforehand) frequencies.
  • Participants must establish valid contacts with any of the Organizer Stations. Contacts with other stations do not count.
  • Each valid contact with an Organizer Station counts only once per participant. Do not call the same station multiple times consecutively, as this will not increase your score.
  • Valid contacts must minimally include both callsigns, sent and received reports, and the phrase "Boldog Új Évet Kívánok" (Happy New Year!). The abbreviation "BUÉK" should be avoided.

Technical Details for the 2024 Activity

  • Date: December 28, 2024
  • Time: 18:00 - 20:00 local time (CET/CEST)
  • Frequency: 145.300-145.550 MHz, excluding 145.500 MHz.
  • Mode: Exclusively FM (vertical polarization).

Scoring:

  • Each "joker" station (those awarding 2 points, like HA1KHJ, HG3A, HA5KFV, HA8AR, HA7KLF, HA1KSS) is worth 2 points.
  • Other Organizer Stations are worth 1 point.
  • To qualify, participants must achieve a minimum of 7 points. Setting up in a good location to collect more points is encouraged.

Satellite Operation:

  • To promote satellite communication, this mode will also be used during the activity.
  • Calls and well wishes will be accepted on the OQ100 satellite in SSB mode around 10.489.888 MHz (uplink frequency), where several Organizer Stations will be present.
  • Satellite operation earns an additional 1 bonus point, regardless of the number of QSOs made via the satellite.

Logging and Evaluation:

  • No logs need to be submitted by participants. The Organizer Stations' logs are the sole basis for evaluation.
  • Technical complaints after the fact cannot be investigated. This is an "activity" and a "game," not a competition, where everyone who participates is a winner.
