About Amateur Radio Emergency Service: Amateur Radio operators play a crucial role in emergency communications during disasters. They set up and operate organized communication networks for governmental and emergency officials and provide non-commercial communication for private citizens. Amateur Radio operators are often active when regular communication lines are damaged due to power outages and destruction of infrastructure-dependent systems.
