The 2025 Galapagos DXpedition has been over a year in the making, with countless meetings and collaborations bringing together a diverse and passionate team of operators. The goal: to create a DXpedition that will leave a lasting memory for both the operators and the global ham radio community.
Team Formation: Unity in Diversity
The team of 25 operators hails from 7 different countries: Ecuador, Brazil, USA, Russia, Latvia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, and Serbia. Despite language and cultural differences, the group shares a singular vision: to make this DXpedition an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. The team includes both veteran DXers and newcomers, a combination that strengthens the spirit of amateur radio and the friendships it fosters.
Challenges and Thanks
Organizing a DXpedition of this scale is no small feat, and the team acknowledges the challenges—coordinating logistics, overcoming language barriers, and managing a large group of operators. However, the beauty of this hobby shines through, creating an unbreakable bond among the team members.
Special thanks are given to Araucaria DX Group, LABRE (Brazilian Ham Association), and numerous other donors and sponsors whose financial support made this operation possible. Their contributions enabled the transport of hundreds of kilograms of equipment to the Galapagos Islands, ensuring the team could operate with multiple stations.
Operation Details
The team will be running 8 stations full-time, with an additional station activated during the nights. They are committed to offering a wide range of bands and modes to engage with as many stations as possible.
For those eager to confirm QSOs, they invite operators to check their website for details on QSL and Donations and Sponsorships, ensuring that all QSOs will be confirmed promptly after the DXpedition concludes.
Acknowledgments to Sponsors
The team extends its gratitude to their sponsors, including ACOM, Diex, DS Antenas, and others, who have provided high-quality equipment that will power the operation. The team urges all ham radio enthusiasts to support these companies that continue to contribute to the hobby with top-tier products.
The Road Ahead
While it wasn’t possible to have everyone on board for this journey, the team expresses their appreciation for those who couldn't join, including HC5EF, PY8WW, PY5CC, and others. They remain committed to delivering a successful DXpedition that serves the entire ham community, aiming for a smooth and memorable operation from the beautiful Galapagos Islands.
