East Greenbush Amateur Radio Association (EGARA): A Commitment to Community and Education

The East Greenbush Amateur Radio Association (EGARA), led by President Bryan Jackson (W2RBJ), is a vibrant club based in East Greenbush, NY, that fosters a strong community of amateur radio enthusiasts dedicated to both the hobby and its public service role. With a focus on contesting, digital modes, DX, and VHF/UHF operations, EGARA is involved in a variety of activities, from community event support to emergency communication assistance.

A Hub of Learning and Engagement

Meeting monthly at the Masonic Lodge, EGARA offers a diverse range of educational programs, practical demonstrations, and lectures that deepen members' technical knowledge and keep them updated on developments in amateur radio. EGARA also runs entry-level and advanced license classes, providing mentorship and license testing sessions to support new hams and seasoned operators alike.

Public Service and Annual Hamfest

EGARA actively supports public safety agencies in times of emergency, while also hosting an annual Hamfest, drawing participants from across the Northeast to East Greenbush Town Park. The club is also a proud participant in ARRL’s Field Day, operating two stations to demonstrate emergency preparedness and promote amateur radio.
