Uniting Communities Through Amateur Radio
The Dekalb/Cannon County Amateur Radio Club (DCCARC) stands as a beacon for amateur radio enthusiasts in Middle Tennessee. With a mission to foster collaboration and technical excellence, DCCARC has brought together operators from DeKalb, Cannon, and surrounding counties since its formation in 2000.
The club’s call sign, AB4ZB, is a tribute to the late James P. Turner, a revered amateur radio operator from McMinnville, Tennessee, whose legacy continues to inspire the local ham community.
A Shared Purpose
The DCCARC embodies the principles outlined in the FCC’s Part 97 regulations, focusing on:
- Fraternalism and collaboration among members.
- Enhancing radio knowledge and operating skills.
- Providing critical emergency communications in times of need.
- Promoting the general welfare of Amateur Radio through community-driven programs.
Meeting and Activities
DCCARC members meet on the last Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM, alternating between the DeKalb County Complex in Smithville and the Cannon County Rescue Squad in Woodbury. These gatherings are not just about operational updates but are enriched with discussions, skill-sharing sessions, and plans for community engagement.
The club boasts 32 active licensed members, each bringing unique expertise and passion to the table. The leadership team, led by President Jeff Estal (KG4IKT) and supported by Vice President Mj Jerry Lee (K6KA), ensures that every activity aligns with the club’s mission of service and education.
