Connecting the Border North-East: The North East Victoria Amateur Radio Club Inc.

The North East Victoria Amateur Radio Club Inc. (NEVARC), proudly operating under the callsign VK3ANE, officially formed on June 15th, 2014, following six months of initial discussions. The club held its inaugural AGM on June 27th, 2014, marking the beginning of its active presence in the region.

NEVARC prioritizes a relaxed and enjoyable approach to amateur radio. Formal meetings are kept concise, with a strong emphasis on engaging technical presentations and a social atmosphere, including a BBQ lunch prior to the meeting.

The club actively operates and maintains the VK3RWO repeater, which supports both 2-meter and 70cm (C4FM digital and analog) modes, and the VK2RWD repeater, serving as crucial communication hubs for the North East Victoria region.

Meetings are held on the second Sunday of each month at the Silva Drive Community Facility, 6 Silva Drive, West Wodonga. A BBQ lunch kicks off the gathering at 12 noon, followed by the formal meeting at 1 pm.

Details regarding Club Activities & Events can be found on the NEVARC website. Upcoming events are also announced in their monthly club newsletter, "NEVARC News," which is emailed to members. Non-members can request a copy by emailing the club.

NEVARC also maintains regular on-air nets:

  • HF Nets: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10 am on 7100 kHz.
  • VHF Net: Wednesday at 2000 local time on the VK3RWO repeater (146.975 MHz).

For those interested in obtaining or upgrading their amateur radio licenses, NEVARC offers assessments for all license classes. These assessments are conducted by their assessors at 10 am on the second Sunday of each month, prior to the club meeting. To book a place for an assessment, please contact Frank VK2BFC at 0419 782 447. Foundation weekend courses are available by arrangement or online, and assessments are held monthly at the club rooms.
