The Clarkson University Amateur Radio Club, call sign K2CC, thrives as an educational and exploratory platform for Clarkson University students in Northern New York. Meeting in the Moore House basement, this vibrant club gathers every Monday evening during the spring and fall semesters at 9 PM, fostering a welcoming environment where students can dive into the world of amateur radio and engage in a variety of activities ranging from digital modes to emergency communication.
Engaging the Next Generation in Amateur Radio
With specialties in digital modes, public service/emergency response, and VHF/UHF operations, K2CC encourages skill development across a range of radio communication technologies. As a university-affiliated club, it also includes a strong focus on serving and mentoring young enthusiasts, supported by resources like a Packet Radio BBS, a repeater system, and regular license test sessions. The club’s close association with Clarkson University enriches its offerings and reinforces its mission to connect students to the amateur radio community.
Leadership and Collaboration
Led by President Samuel W. Rose (KC2LRC), the Clarkson University Amateur Radio Club exemplifies the spirit of teamwork and knowledge-sharing. With 15 members, 10 of whom are licensed amateur operators and six being ARRL members, the club not only serves as a learning hub but also as a network that strengthens students’ academic and technical pursuits.
