The Cherokee Amateur Radio Emergency Services (CARES), operating under the call sign WX4SC, is a dedicated group of amateur radio operators committed to serving their local community, with a special focus on emergency preparedness. The group works closely with the Cherokee County Emergency Manager and other local agencies to improve the county's emergency communication capabilities. In addition to supporting public safety, CARES hosts regular Field Day events, offers mentoring opportunities, and fosters camaraderie among radio enthusiasts.
