Caution When Transmitting: Ensuring Safe and Efficient Use of Your Transceiver

Using your transceiver properly is crucial for maintaining its longevity and ensuring your safety. Here are important guidelines and tips to follow when using your device:

🔺 WARNING: Avoid Prolonged Transmissions

  • Never transmit for long periods. During prolonged transmissions at high or mid-power, the transceiver radiates heat to protect itself from overheating. The chassis will become hot and may cause burns.
  • Default Time-Out Timer: To prevent overheating, the default setting for the time-out timer is set to 5 minutes. Be cautious if this timer is turned OFF or set to a long period, and avoid long transmissions.

⚠️ CAUTION: Heat Dissipation and Antenna Use

  • Avoid obstructed heat dissipation. Do not operate the transceiver where heat dissipation will be obstructed, especially if it is also being charged with an external power supply. Poor heat dissipation can cause burns, warp the casing, or damage the transceiver.
  • Always use an antenna. Transmitting without an antenna can harm the device.

📉 Power Reduction and Transmission Notes

  • Automatic Power Reduction: When the transceiver becomes hot, its heat protection function gradually reduces the output power to approximately 2.5 watts and then stops transmission to protect itself until it cools down.
  • Amateur Frequency Bands: Ensure that you only transmit on amateur frequency bands to comply with regulations.

📡 IMPORTANT: Monitor Operating Frequency

  • Prevent Interference: Before transmitting, always monitor the operating frequency to ensure that your transmission will not interfere with other stations on the same frequency.

By adhering to these guidelines, you can ensure safe and effective use of your transceiver, preventing damage and maintaining optimal performance.
