Honoring Enrico Davanzo (I1DVO): A Pioneer in Radio for Rescue

In 2012, the ARI Trieste Section proudly named its headquarters after a distinguished member, Enrico Davanzo (I1DVO).

Enrico was a dedicated member for many years, serving in various roles, including as a councilor and secretary, for nearly a decade in the early 1960s. Beyond being a radio amateur, I1DVO Enrico was an expert speleologist. On multiple occasions, he experimented with new communication methods and tools for mountain and cave rescue, becoming a true pioneer in using radio for emergency services. His work notably anticipated the crucial role that Civil Protection would play years later.

The naming of the headquarters in his honor reflects the section's deep respect for his contributions and his foresight in demonstrating the vital humanitarian applications of amateur radio.
