Roseto degli Abruzzi, Italy – The ARI (Associazione Radioamatori Italiani) Section of Roseto degli Abruzzi is proud to announce the Dario Smaldino Memorial Award, organized in memory of its esteemed founder. This award offers amateur radio operators worldwide a chance to engage in exciting radio activity and earn a special diploma.

Award Details and How to Participate
The Dario Smaldino Memorial Award will run from April 1, 2025, at 00:01 CET to April 30, 2025, at 23:59 CET.
Participation is open to all licensed amateur radio operators.
- Bands: HF (40-80 meters)
- Modes: SSB (respecting the Band-Plan)
- Reports: RST (Readability, Strength, Tone)
- Valid Stations: You can connect with all valid stations, specifically members of the ARI Roseto degli Abruzzi Section. A complete list of members can be found on www.ariroseto.it in the "soci" (members) section.

Special Stations:
- Throughout the award period, one or more "jolly" stations will be on air, assigning higher scores.
- A "special" station with the section's call sign, IQ6RS, will also be active.
Scoring:
- 1 point for any valid station.
- 3 points for "jolly" stations.
- 6 points for the special station IQ6RS.
Calling Procedure: Stations will make calls using the phrase: "CQ CQ Diploma Dario Smaldino." The same station, including the special station IQ6RS, can be contacted multiple times per day, provided there is a change in band or emission mode. Hunters are not allowed to ask activators to change band or mode.
Real-Time Tracking and Awards
- No Log Submission Required: You do not need to submit an extract log. The ranking will be automatically generated from the activators' logs.
- Real-time Ranking: You can view the real-time ranking at: https://diplomi.ariroseto.it/smaldino/logpubclassifica.
- Log Verification: The Award Manager reserves the right to perform random checks and may request log documentation from hunters.
Prizes: Three separate rankings will be compiled:
- Italian stations
- Foreign stations
- "Zona Sei" (Zone Six) stations
A prize plaque will be awarded to the 1st placed foreign hunter, the 1st placed Italian hunter, and the 1st placed "Zona Sei" hunter.
Diplomas:
- Bronze Diploma: Awarded to participants achieving a minimum of 75 points.
- Silver Diploma: Awarded to participants achieving 150 points.
- Gold Diploma: Awarded to participants achieving 300 points.
These diplomas can be downloaded for free in PDF format from the "diplomi" section of www.ariroseto.it after the general ranking is published.
For those who qualify and wish to receive a physical parchment diploma, an explicit request can be made via email to info@ariroseto.it. A contribution of €10 or $15 is required to cover expenses, payable via bank transfer to:

QSL Cards
Participants who wish to receive a QSL card can request it either directly (with a self-addressed, stamped envelope) or via the bureau.
