Pordenone, Italy – The A.R.I. (Associazione Radioamatori Italiani) Sezione di Pordenone APS, identified by its call sign IQ3PN, has been a cornerstone of amateur radio in Western Friuli since its founding in 1959. Initially a small group that branched off from the Udine Section, ARI Pordenone now has a dedicated home in what was once the original location of the Pordenone Fair, now part of the Municipal Multisport Center.

A History of Leadership and Special Call Signs
The first President of the Section was Lucio Brunetta – IV3CFC. The current President is Pietro Cogo – IV3EHH. The official ministerial call sign assigned to the Section is IQ3PN.
Over the years, the Section has also obtained various special call signs for events and commemorations, including: IR3P, IR3PN, II3GM, IR3HST, II3ANA, II3FPN.
Since 2007, the Section has been named in memory of a dear friend who passed away prematurely: IV3TKS Francesco Bastianello, a testament to the strong community bonds within ARI Pordenone.
Purpose and Activities
The primary goal of the Section is to unite radio amateurs in Western Friuli to foster the development of amateur radio in this region and ensure the protection of the amateur radio service.
Among the various activities carried out by ARI Pordenone, some notable ones include:
- Participation in the National Amateur Radio Fair of Pordenone.
- An efficient QSL service that facilitates the exchange of confirmation postcards for contacts made with stations worldwide.
- Organization of basic radiotechnology courses for those aspiring to obtain an amateur radio license.
- Active participation in Civil Protection exercises and activations throughout the Province and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region.
- Hosting technical evenings focused on various amateur radio topics.
- Organization of internal Morse Code (CW) courses for both reception and transmission.
The Section also organizes meetings and conferences on amateur radio subjects, featuring speakers from local, national, and international backgrounds. Many members actively participate in contests and other radio competitions, both as a team and as individual operators.
