Cassino, Italy – The A.R.I. (Associazione Radioamatori Italiani) Sezione di Cassino, identified by its call sign IQ0MA, was established on March 15, 1991. It owes its creation to a group of dedicated radio amateurs (IW0DAE, IW0BOQ, I0AYM, I0NZK, IK0TRV, IK0HKA, IK0ESM, IW0CZZ, IW0CDA, IW0CFK, I0BPY, IK0ETP, IK0HTM, IW0BYK, I0NEM) who, adhering to Article 64 of the National Statute, convened to agree upon its formation and approve its internal regulations.

Honoring Marcello Assante (I0AYM): The Guiding Spirit
The section's call sign, IQ0MA, is a tribute to Marcello Assante (I0AYM). Marcello was a long-time President of the 0302 Ciociaria section and a driving force behind the establishment of the 03.03 Cassino section. In a testament to his philosophy of "making way for the young," he served as Vice President and then as a councilor for the new section, always ensuring his invaluable collaboration.
Marcello began his technical radio activity as a teenager. It was during the war that he found his initial inspiration, constructing a receiver that provided his community with a window to the outside world. This early experience, combined with the allure of experimentation and the continuous discovery of new things, stayed with him throughout his life in the field of radiocommunications. His passing on February 1, 2003, left an immense technical and human legacy within the amateur radio community and an irreplaceable void.
The ARI Cassino section continues to uphold the spirit of collaboration, mentorship, and dedication to the advancement of amateur radio that Marcello Assante exemplified.
