Hi there, this is Roy. Let's talk about something that would make the Wright Brothers envious if they were around today - listening in on air band transmissions using the Talkpod A36 dual-band radio. I guess you could say it's the next best thing to sprouting wings. But don't worry, no feathers required!
Living under the busy airspace of Bristol Airport can be quite a spectacle, especially when you've got a handy device that can tune into air band frequencies. The Talkpod A36 lets you do just that. Who needs a television drama when you can listen to live air traffic control?
During one of my recent sky eavesdropping sessions, I found that 132.475 AM was broadcasting weather updates from Bristol airport. It was as if I had my personal weather station. "Roy, umbrella today!" the radio seemed to suggest.
Intrigued, I decided to venture further into the air band and tuned into 125.650. What I heard was nothing short of a sky opera. Air traffic control and airplanes engaged in a melodious conversation. No, I didn't understand all the jargon, but the excitement was in the journey, not the destination, right?
Here's how you too can enjoy this aero-acoustic adventure:
-
Switch to VFO Mode: First off, kick channel mode to the curb and switch to VFO mode by pressing down on the green button. A or B? The choice is yours using the A/B button.
-
Dial in the Frequency: Next, go ahead and punch in your frequency of choice, say 125.0. No need to fret about AM mode; your Talkpod A36 will dutifully switch to it once you key in the frequency. And make sure to turn off any CT CSS settings, we don't want any static crashing our sky party.
But Roy, where do we find these magical frequencies? Fear not, my friends, Google is your trusty companion in this journey. Just tune through the air bands and watch your Talkpod A36 turn into your personal sky chatter receiver.
Here's a sneak peek into some of the chatter I caught: ["...the altitude is 5000 feet. Turning C. March year passed 2 it for 5-6 year, 6 as week red..."] Quite a mouthful, huh? Makes you appreciate your simple car driving instructions, doesn't it?
So, what are you waiting for? The Talkpod A36 dual-band radio is your ticket to the fascinating world of airwaves. Who knows, maybe you'll pick up some pilot lingo along the way!
And remember, it's always a good day to fly, even if it's from the comfort of your own home. Enjoy exploring the airwaves, my fellow ground pilots!
Roy, over and out!

I have a serious question. My countries main Air band frequancy is 136.050… and my Talkpod doesn’t stay in AM mode. How can I force my Talkpod to switch to AM mode, since I need it so much?
